By train

From the West, on the FS Napoli-Reggio Calabria railway, from Battipaglia station a train links Potenza to Taranto making intermediate stops.
From the North, Potenza can be reached again from the FS Foggia-Potenza railway.
Matera can be reached by train from Bari through the FAL (Appulo Lucane railway) also providing a bus link

By car

- From the Tyrrhenian side A3 SA-RC motorway:
come out at the Sicignano exit and take the Basentana highway (SS407) for Potenza.
The SS407 goes up to the Ionic coast and onto the SS 106.
- From the Adriatic side, to reach Potenza take the A14 motorway up to Foggia.
Then turn towards Candela and proceed first for Melfi and then for Potenza.
- For Matera, on the other end, take the same A14 motorway up to Bari.
From Bari the SS 96 highway towards Altamura.
