Sheila and Claudia are two American ladies who came again to Southern Italy this year to live authentic experiences: for a week their home was Matera, the city of the Sassi. Indeed, their home was a deluxe cave in the Sasso Caveoso.
In Matera they found history, culture, good food, friendly people … and delicious artisan ice cream!
With us, Sheila and Claudia enjoyed a wonderful food and wine experience: they took part in vegetarian cooking laboratories to discover several traditional dishes, eaten by farmers after their work in the fields around Matera in the past.
Sweet onions, grated, on ash; stuffed chili peppers, baked with egg; Funghetto eggplants, stuffed, grilled; zucchini in scapece, with eggs and onion, with mint … in short, a vegetarian culinary rapture.
Sheila and Claudia also reached a field of tomatoes and green beans, served to prepare a delicious fresh sauce, a typical summer recipe from Southern Italy.
From now, on the 36th floor of a Manhattan skyscraper, someone will cook dishes of the Materan tradition and we will be happy to be part of this culinary miracle in the heart of New York.
